This course is designed to prepare American Heart Association (AHA) instructor candidates to disseminate the science, skills and philosophy of resuscitation programs to participants enrolled in AHA Heartsaver and BLS courses. Pre-course requirements: have current provider status and be proficient in all skills, interview and be accepted by an AHA Training Center; complete Instructor Essentials Course; submit all required forms. Registration deadline is 20 days prior to class.

Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR. Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants. The importance of early use of an AED and demonstrate its use. Provide effective ventilation by using a barrier device. The importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performing as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR. The technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants.
