Iowa Coaching Authorization (55-Hour Online Workshop)

Begin your coaching authorization immediately with this state-approved, 55-hour online, self-paced workshop. Designed for individuals seeking an Iowa Coaching Authorization, this course allows you to complete the required content on your own schedule within 45 days of registration.

Important Information

• This workshop fulfills the educational requirements for an Iowa Coaching Authorization.
• It does not qualify for college credit and does not meet the requirements for a K–12 Coaching Endorsement.
• Licensed K–12 teachers seeking a coaching endorsement must enroll in the credit-bearing coaching courses instead.
• A computer with reliable internet access is required.
• Login instructions will be emailed after registration.

Additional Iowa BOEE Requirements

In addition to successfully completing this workshop, applicants must complete the following requirements through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE):

• Submit the BOEE online application.
• Pay the required BOEE fees:
  • $85 application fee
  • $75 background check fee
  • A small online credit card processing fee may apply.
• Provide documentation of current CPR certification. NIACC Continuing Education offers Heartsaver CPR/AED, BLS Provider, and Adult First Aid courses that meet this requirement. CPR certifications from the following organizations are also accepted:
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • American Red Cross
  • American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI)
  • National Safety Council (NSC)
  • Medic First Aid
• Complete the required Mandatory Reporter Training (Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training – DS 169) and include the certificate with your BOEE application.
• Applicants under 20 years of age must upload a copy of their high school diploma as part of the BOEE application.

After successfully completing the workshop, NIACC Continuing Education will email you a certificate of completion to upload with your BOEE application.

Once all coursework and application requirements have been submitted, the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners typically processes coaching authorizations within 4–6 weeks.
