Dog Grooming

Prepare for a rewarding career working with animals through our Dog Grooming program. Students gain hands-on training in grooming techniques, breed-specific styling, animal handling, safety, and salon sanitation practices. The program emphasizes professionalism, customer service, and pet care while developing the practical skills needed for entry-level employment.

Professional Dog Grooming and Entrepreneurship program. The comprehensive program covers essential topics such as business planning, marketing, and financial management, providing participants with the fundamental skills needed to start and manage a successful dog grooming business. Additionally, participants will learn lean startup methodologies, gain industry knowledge, refine their business models, and accelerate their path to market readiness. In addition, The course takes place in the college’s professional dog grooming training center and offers hands-on instruction focused on technical skills, safety, sanitization, and the artistry of grooming. Students will develop professional and interpersonal skills necessary for industry success and engage with comprehensive learning materials, including illustrated textbooks, online content, PowerPoint presentations, tutorial videos, and an instructional guide. Research- based instruction ensures progressive expertise development, while multiple assessment methodologies prepare students for professional certification.

The certificate program requires two courses: Professional Dog Grooming & Introduction to Entrepreneurship for Dog Grooming. The courses run in tandem, you could be a Certified Dog Groomer in as little as 10 weeks.

This unique course is designed to equip future dog groomers with the entrepreneurial knowledge necessary to launch and grow a thriving business in the pet grooming industry. The comprehensive program covers essential topics such as business planning, marketing, and financial management, providing participants with the fundamental skills needed to start and manage a successful dog grooming business. Additionally, participants will learn lean startup methodologies, gain industry knowledge, refine their business models, and accelerate their path to market readiness.

Registration closes on May 26, 2026 at 3:00 pm. This course is a part of the Professional Dog Grooming series and cannot be taken as a standalone course.

The Professional Dog Grooming course provides a college-certified curriculum designed to meet the highest industry standards and equip students with essential skills and credentials for careers in dog grooming. The course takes place in the college’s professional dog grooming training center and offers hands-on instruction focused on technical skills, safety, sanitization, and the artistry of grooming. Students will develop professional and interpersonal skills necessary for industry success and engage with comprehensive learning materials, including illustrated textbooks, online content, PowerPoint presentations, tutorial videos, and an instructional guide. Research-based instruction ensures progressive expertise development, while multiple assessment methodologies prepare students for professional certification.

Registration closes on March 12th, 2026 at 3:00 pm. There will be a mandatory orientation for all students on March 25th, 2026 at 8:00 am. Students must be able to to do the following: Stamina: Having the stamina to stand and focus for long periods, up to 4 hours. Strength: Can lift/handle/restrain dogs of varying sizes, up to 50/75 lbs. Coordination: Have hand-eye coordination. Flexibility: Have the ability to bend at the waist at a 90-degree angle in all directions. Physical Endurance: Have the ability to consistently work through varying attitudes of dogs without a significant drop in energy.
